We at Emory University believe that a university has a moral obligation to serve the community in which it is located.
We are committed to crafting partnerships based on a philosophy of sharing and reciprocity that enable both university
and community partners to work together to address the most critical problems affecting communities in the Greater
Atlanta area.
To further these objectives, the Office of University-Community Partnerships (OUCP) provides financial support through
its Community Partnerships Mini-Grant Program and graduate teaching assistance through
its Community Partnerships Graduate Fellows Program to faculty who wish to incorporate
service-learning components into their courses. In addition, OUCP, in collaboration with Volunteer
Emory, the Ethics and Servant Leadership Program, and
the Theory Practice Learning initiative seeks to promote communication with Emory's
student volunteer organizations to develop more explicit pathways for connecting student volunteerism with the teaching and
research missions of the university.
OUCP also provides an entry point for requests for assistance from community groups,
organizations, and agencies in the Greater Atlanta area that may be submitted on-line, by fax (404-712-9892) or by
telephone (404-712-9893). OUCP serves as a matchmaker, seeking out faculty, staff, and students within the university who
possess the skills and expertise to address the needs of those seeking assistance.
Our website also provides links to a variety of resources and publications that discuss how
university-community partnerships can be used to promote community service.
