Call for Mini Grant Applications - Spring 2010

One of the primary goals of the Office of University-Community Partnerships is to mobilize Emory's intellectual resources to assist community groups, organizations, and agencies in the Greater Atlanta area in addressing critical community needs. To assist Emory faculty in achieving this objective, the OUCP administers a small grant program to provide assistance to faculty for teaching and research activities that engage Emory with the greater Atlanta community.

At present, this fund has two programs:

• Community Partnership Mini Grants for Teaching
  This fund provides financial, technical, and personnel support to faculty for the incorporation of experiential/service learning components into new or existing courses. We especially are interested in projects that allow students, as part of course requirements, to apply classroom learning by performing one or more research or service activities that positively and directly help a local community address an important problem, opportunity, or need. Community-based activities may be weekly or periodically (such as tutoring or monitoring of community conditions, for example), or may be progressive (such as gathering data and input necessary to evaluate a program or situation, or to develop a program proposal).
  Grants of up to $3,000 are available and awards are made 3 times a year.


• Community Partnership Mini Grants for Research
  This fund provides financial, technical, and personnel support to faculty and staff for pilot research projects that provide a direct and tangible benefit to communities in the greater Atlanta area. The research must be sought by one or more community organizations, government agencies, or nonprofit organizations and must have a direct and tangible benefit for or application in the community.
  Grants of up to $5,500 are available and awards are made 3 times a year.
